World War II, a Cost-Benefit Analysis
World War II is arguably the most influential war in world history. It changed everything from technology and science, to the world economy and political structure. The goal of this project is to investigate the ways in which the Second World War created change in our world. By analyzing the costs and benefits of the war to humanity, a clearer view of the impact of this conflict on our history can be obtained. The effects of this conflict can be divided into three parts, human, economic, and social/political. First, the costs of the war will be examined in detail, which is a necessary first step in order to assess the magnitude of the costs. Human costs entails casualties, atrocities, and refugees. Economic costs includes money spent on the war, war debt, and production potentials. Social and Political costs include loss of political freedoms, religious freedoms, and negative world politics. Then, the positive impacts the war had on the world will be discussed thoroughly. The contrast of the two will show many ways World War II changed the world.
